Seventh Annual Juried Show of Underwater Photography

Following the success of previous editions, next year's juried show of underwater photography Diaframma Sub promises to continue its tradition as an exciting and well-attended gathering of marine life, environment, and underwater photography enthusiasts.

As in previous years, Diaframma Sub is supported by ICRAM (Central Institute for Applied Marine Research) and by FIAS (Italian Federation of Scuba Activities). It also benefits from the patrimony of a number of firms working in the field of aquatic activities, among them Isotecnic, Scilla Diving Center, Scubapro-Uwatec, TAU, Touristic Village Nettuno and Saidimare.

As in previous years, our guidelines allow the photographer wide latitude of expression. Our desire is to leave the artist creative room by not imposing strict bonds. We wish to leave open the possibility that any thought, experimental research or feeling may be expressed via the medium of photography.

To better achieve our goal in the current edition of Diaframma Sub, a new category has been added to the existing three (underwater environment, biological photos and black/white photos).

The title of the new category Personal series well describes its content. This category is designed to allow the photographer to express their interpretation of underwater photography with the widest range of freedom. This category is unrestricted; anyone is free to present photos which represent their views on the marine as they see fit. The only mandatory item is an accompanying statement describing the photographer's point-of-view vis-à-vis underwater photography.
But for the entries in the new Personal Series, each photo will be evaluated individually. Entries must be postmarked no later than 17/02/2001. Winning images from the previous years' shows, as well as any ulterior information are available on the Web at: http://www.saidimare.com/diaframmasub.

Selected photos will be exhibited in the exposition EUDI SHOW, held in Bologna, Italy 9 - 12 March, 2001. The jury-prize winners will be announced at EUDI on 12 March following the round-table.
